Variation Lock

It would be great if variations could be locked like cameras or objects. I try to add variations at the very end of my workflow, but I inevitable need to make adjustments afterwards. Constantly needing to select the base variation, making a change, moving somewhere else on the timeline therefore reselecting a different variation and needed to reselect the base variation is very annoying. I would appreciate it if changes made automatically apply to the base variation if all other variations are locked.
